We work in a variety of techniques - natural pigments mixed with Silicate binder to ensure penetration into the rough wall surface (mimicking the ancient wet plaster technique), or in a high-quality Acrylics (modern approach, but which has benefits of vividness & price).
Murals can be done directly on the walls - the most desirable approach where every square inch of the interior is considered to participate in the overall liturgical ensemble. Murals can also be done in more “flexible” approaches - on panels (less dependency on the wall surface), or on canvas (attaching to the walls). The last two approaches is less dependent on the location of where they are written. There are pros and cons for each approach.
If hired, we love to involve church community in the more rudimentary tasks, under our guidance! We will also be able to conduct iconography lectures and workshops as a part of our commitment.
We can also provide you with initial rough sketches of the interior mural layouts as a free service, if you can share pictures & dimensions of the interior, or sponsor our quick visit to see the building.

We were blessed to be allowed to renovate the interior of the church Nave, Iconostasis, and some elements of the Altar, as well as the church Dining Hall.
With the blessing of His Grace the Right Reverend Irinej (Dobrijevic), and archpriest Father Petar Petrovic, the work at Saint George Serbian Orthodox church in Cincinnati, OH started in 2021 and completed in November 2023. We started with wall murals in the dining hall, and then proceeded into the church building: the Nave, the Ceiling reconstruction and the Sacred Iconostasis.
The Church Nave hosts large panel icons of 12 major feasts, written on 2x4 foot wood panels, in acrylics. The walls are decorated with the byzantine decorations.

The Church hall murals consist of 7 archangels: Michael, Gabriel, Raphael, Uriel, Selaphiel (Salathiel), Jegudiel (Jehudiel), Barachiel, and the eighth, Jerahmeel (Jeremiel). Patron of the church, Saint George, Holy Theotokos and two saints: Saint Mardarije and Saint Sava. The large mural of the Last Summer is at the furtherst wall of the hall. See the murals here.
The Church reconstruction couldn't be possible without the numerous volunteers and the tremendous organizational efforts by Mirko Sebez, Father Petar and Victor Gerasimchuk.
