What effects pricing
The composition and size of an icon: a scene, or multiple figures, takes more time and effort to write.
The Amount of gold elements on the icon: just a gold halo, or a halo with embellishments like embossing (design patterns on the gold). Some icons are written with an entirely gold background, which requires more material and time.
icons written on wood with raised borders (kovcheg), as making such boards is more labor intensive, versus flat board icons. (A fully prepared solid wood board with braces and a kovcheg for an icon sized 7.5 by 9.5 inches is about 90$ just for the board)
